In fact, worse than worthless, because once you’ve accumulated a certain amount of stuff, it starts to own you rather than the other way around. I know of one couple who couldn’t retire to the town they preferred because they couldn’t afford a place there big enough for all their stuff. Their house isn’t theirs; it’s their stuff’s.
So true.
As James Joyner points out, a few bloggers are seeing anti-Americanism in the new movie “Bourne Ultimatum”. While I think that there is some anti-black ops message to be found, I disagree with the other bloggers and believe that the movie shows David Straitharn as an out of control leader of those black ops. Joan Allen’s character disagrees with him time and again and the majority of the group disagrees with him. He seems to be out of touch with reality rather than the entire American Justice system being evil.
